The FEI (Federation Equestre International) has created International levels and competitions for children and young adults.
FEI Children Age: 12-14
Level of riding: Should be able to successfully show at first level at EC licensed shows and be ready for second level.
FEI Pony Age: 12-16
Level of riding: Should be able to successfully show at second level at EC licensed shows.
Article 3103 Pony:
- A pony is a small horse whose height at the withers, having been measured on a smooth level surface, does no exceed 148cm without shoes or 149cm with shoes (see Annex C-I & II)
- In any International Events and Championships, Ponies must be at least six (6) years old.
FEI Junior Age: 14-18
Level of riding: Should be able to successfully show third level at EC licensed shows.
Young Rider Age: 16-21
Level of riding: Should be able to successfully show at PSG at EC licensed shows.
All Horses/ Ponies
- Should have solid basic dressage training
- Should be absolutely sound
- Should be confirmed at the level required
- Should have three good basic gaits
- Should have a reliable temperament
- Should not be younger than 7 and not older than 18 years of age.
Riders
Rider should be coached by a licensed coach and if possible under the supervision of a Level 3 Coach Dressage or higher.
Coaches should be open minded about clinics and work in coordination with Equine Canada and Dressage Canada.
